Coast Guard searching for man who may have fallen off BC Ferries vessel

Canadian and US Coast Guard crews are scouring an area of the Georgia Strait for a man who may have fallen off a BC Ferries vessel.

The Coastal Celebration left Swartz Bay Terminal at 11am Sunday, bound for Tsawwassen.

When the ferry arrived at its destination around 12:40pm the man's family reported him missing to the Chief Steward's office.

Officials did a sweep of the vessel and terminal but were unable to find him.

Coast Guard vessels are now combing the waters in Active Pass near Mayne Island, trying to find him.
