Popular Whistler DJ Mike Grefner was last seen early Tuesday morning, and friends are following up on any leads they can that may provide a clue as to his whereabouts.
"We've messaged a lot of people," confirmed Grefner's friend Jeff Nikula.
He said a group of about 30 people walked along the highway near Whistler on Friday looking for clues, and a smaller group even went up to Pemberton to speak to a waitress who believes she may have served Grefner and a woman in the last few days.
However, Grefner is still missing.
"He's supposed to DJ tonight," said Nikula. Grefner is known by his DJ-ing name as vszero.
Grefner was last seen early Tuesday morning at Garfinkle's in Whistler, and was last heard from at about 5 a.m. when he called a friend. Nikula said Grefner then told the friend he would call her back as he said something about his ride being at his house, but she never heard back from him.
Whistler RCMP confirmed they have been out looking for Grefner, along with the Canadian Avalanche Rescue, especially as it is -22 degrees outside.
Nikula said Grefner has been known to go away for a day or two at a time, and he's a very spiritual person so he likes the solitary outdoors, but he always told someone where he was going. "He's gone away for a day or two, it's not a big deal," said Nikula. "But now he's just ended up disappearing."
Friends have set up a Facebook page, which now has more than 1,000 members, and they are asking everyone who might know something to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044.
Grefner is 34 years old, 6ft 2" with a slim build, and was last seen wearing faded blue jeans, and a black military-style hat.
