Jane Carrigan is a part-time reporter and anchor for Global BC.
She began her career in 1988 after graduating from the British Columbia
Institute of Technology’s Journalism program. Her first television reporting
and anchoring job took her to STV in Saskatoon
where she covered agriculture and anchored the noon news. After a year she
moved on to another station in the market as a weekend anchor and a municipal
reporter.
After four years in Saskatchewan Jane left to take over the number
one-rated weekend anchor spot at CTV’s Calgary
station where she met and later married her co-anchor, Global BC’s
Chris Gailus.
In April of 2000, Jane followed her husband as his career took him to
the U.S. Jane and Chris spent three years in Dallas, Texas
where Jane became involved in several charities including the humane society of
Greater Dallas and the Metroplex animal coalition where she advocated for
tougher animal abuse laws and better facilities for strays. She also became a
strong supporter of the children’s medical center of Dallas.
When her husband’s career moved them to New York, Jane returned to the field of
Broadcast Journalism, covering the anniversary of 9/11 and occasionally filled
in as her husband’s co-host on FOX Television’s award-winning “Good Day New
York” morning show.
Jane is thrilled to be back in Canada and in her hometown. She
lives in Vancouver
with her husband, Chris Gailus and their cat.
